Sign upThe name comes from growing up in Texas. Everything really is bigger here, including the distances, so you make choices. Which road, which pace, which view out the window. No GPS, just a map with worn folds and your own sense of direction. The freeways are fast and forgettable. The back roads keep you moving and show you more.
Choosing back roads has been an instinct as long as I can remember, and like other small preferences, it’s told me something about how I want to move through my days and what catches my eye. Those small recognitions are how an aesthetic forms, and how a life takes shape.
This email is where I work things out before they’re anything else. What’s catching my attention, what I’m experimenting with, what’s still in the rough. The magic, the mundane, and the missteps.
