Short Bio

Bonnie Glendinning is a mixed-media artist working in wood, paint, and collage from her studio in Austin, Texas. Her work explores the interior life, the feeling of belonging to yourself, and the threshold between what is and what could be. Through her studio brand, Art Trekker, she publishes Wayfinder, a monthly printed art zine, and Backroads, a free letter from the studio. Before turning fully to her own practice, she spent thirty-five years as a creative director and designer. She also launched an online gallery representing other artists, produced the Thriving Artist Summits, and mentored working artists. She holds a BFA in Studio Art from the University of Texas at Austin.

Long Bio

Bonnie Glendinning is a mixed-media artist based in Austin, Texas. Art came first: drawing as a child, then sculpture, ceramics, painting, and analog photography while earning her BFA in Studio Art at the University of Texas at Austin, where her experimental photographic work was selected for the final student exhibition. After graduation she moved to Houston, where she worked as a photographic assistant and later joined the special effects team for RoboCop 2 as an art assistant. While in Houston, her mixed-media work, rooted in photography, was selected for a group exhibition. The instinct has been the same from the start: mix the materials, test the idea, follow what the experiment reveals.

What followed was thirty-five years of making in other forms. As a designer and creative director she developed visual work on projects for organizations such as Disney, Universal Studios, and PwC, created book designs for authors, and served a decade with the State of Texas in design, branding, and customer experience. Alongside that work she spent a decade supporting other artists: founding an online gallery, producing the Thriving Artist Summit, a series of online events featuring more than fifty international artists and experts and profiled in Professional Artist Magazine, built an engaged artist community and coached hundreds of working artists through her online courses.

Art Trekker is the return to where she began. Her current work in wood, paint, and collage explores the interior life, the feeling of belonging to yourself, and the threshold between what is and what could be. Each month she publishes Wayfinder, a small printed art zine filled with what she is experimenting with and noticing in the studio, and writes Backroads, a free email letter sharing the practice as it happens. Her work begins from a simple premise: let your curiosity influence the beauty that defines you.
